Milestone Systems The global leader in open platform video management software today announced the launch of XProtect for 2026, as well as the Arcules autumn update for 2026.
Milestone indicates that these updates will help enterprises transform the continuously increasing amount of camera, device, site, and operational data into clearer and more manageable operations in local, cloud, and hybrid deployment environments.
Copenhagen, Denmark, October 27, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- As video environments continue to expand, the challenge is no longer just about acquiring more video data, but about helping operators understand what is happening, while providing administrators with efficient ways to manage the underlying systems. Milestone indicates that XProtect in 2026 R2 adds context to events and simplifies the management of increasingly large installations and deployments, while Arcules enhances resilience, operational insights, and secure communication in both cloud and hybrid environments.
Milestone Systems Chief Technology Officer Andrew Burnett stated: "Our customers are managing more cameras, more sites, and more information than ever before. They need this complexity to work in their favor, rather than against them. With the XProtect 2026 R2 and the latest Arcules updates, we provide operators with a clearer context when events occur, and we also offer administrators a simpler way to keep their expanding systems secure, up-to-date, and reliable, regardless of how they choose to deploy them."
View events in context.
The map feature in XProtect adds spatial context to video security by integrating cameras, alarms, connected devices, and real-time video into geographical views and floor plans. This feature is designed for complex environments such as campuses, hospitals, and airports, where hundreds or even thousands of cameras can make it difficult to locate incidents. It helps operators identify the location where an incident occurred, locate nearby cameras, and directly access real-time video from the map, thereby supporting faster responses and enhanced situational awareness. The map feature will be available in future versions of XProtect Smart Client.
The new Sticky Notes feature allows important operational knowledge to be retained where the operators work. Users can attach notes to each camera view within XProtect Smart Client to record site-specific information, handover details, or operation instructions, and prioritize them through color coding. Administrators can centrally manage and configure these notes via XProtect Management Client, helping teams maintain continuity between shifts.
To simplify management of the growing system
XProtect In 2026, R2 it also reduced the management workload required for running large-scale distributed deployments. Server Logs It centralizes the audit logs, system logs, and rule logs generated in the XProtect environment, providing administrators with a consistent way to review activities, troubleshoot issues, and support compliance reporting. It can also be integrated with preferred monitoring systems and third-party log management systems.
Permission Inheritance Allows newly added cameras and devices to automatically obtain the access permissions assigned to their respective groups. As a result, administrators only need to define the rules once to ensure consistent application as the system expands.
Extend the value of XProtect through Milestone Care
The value of XProtect goes far beyond initial deployment. Milestone Care helps customers protect and extend this investment by keeping their systems up to date. With XProtect Remote Manager provided by Care Plus, partners and end-users can monitor multi-site XProtect deployments in a secure browser-based manner. It can provide system health updates in seconds, helping teams to prioritize actions that maintain the system in its best operating condition.
Arcules Enhance Cloud Resilience and Insight
For Arcules customers, Cloud Backup, for, and Edge Gateways, by uploading a lower-resolution second video stream to the cloud, they provide off-site video retention, which enhances resilience while minimizing bandwidth and storage requirements. The new integration with Triton Sensors expands video security capabilities through environment and occupancy awareness. It integrates sensor data with video and event data, allowing users to create alarms, rules, and sensor events associated with video on a single platform. Other updates for Arcules include:
- Secure Device Communication will automatically use HTTPS to encrypt the communication between the gateway and supported cameras, protecting videos and credentials without the need for additional configuration.
- Faster Local Video Streaming can speed up the startup of video streams and provide a smoother viewing and playback experience with multiple cameras, even in complex network environments.
- Arcules - XProtect Operational Enhancements brings safer upgrades, better diagnostics, and role-based access to alarms in mixed environments.
As a continuously updated cloud service, Arcules will automatically deliver new features, without the need for Milestone Care.
Milestone indicates that these releases collectively reflect the company's continuous investment in helping customers operate in a clearer and more confident manner. To learn how XProtect 2026, R2, and Arcules can bring higher clarity to video operations, please visit www.milestonesys.com.
