Samsung has launched the Stablecoin Account feature in Samsung Wallet, bringing USDC transfers based on Solana to eligible American Galaxy users. This feature was first announced on October 8th, and now users can directly buy, hold, send, and receive USDC through Samsung Wallet without the need to install a separate cryptocurrency app or manage private keys. Users can use this account alongside their existing payment cards, boarding passes, and identification documents. With this launch, approximately 82 million US devices compatible with Galaxy will now be able to use stablecoin transfers based on Solana.
Samsung has collaborated with licensed stablecoin custody and infrastructure provider Bastion to develop this feature. Coinbase acts as a sub-custodian for Bastion through Coinbase Prime Vault, while Solana is responsible for transaction settlement. Users can send USDC to other Samsung Wallet users within the United States as well as to compatible external cryptocurrency wallets. Samsung does not charge a transfer fee, but other service providers may do so.
Eligible users can also transfer funds to qualified bank accounts in over 60 countries, and the recipients may receive the money in their local currency. Fees and availability depend on the destination.
To initiate a transfer, users can open the Stablecoin Account card on the Quick Access tab page of Samsung Wallet, click Send, select the transfer method, and follow the prompts. This feature is currently available to U.S. residents who are at least 18 years old, possess Samsung Account, and are using a device that runs Android version 13 or a later compatible version of Galaxy. Residents of New York State are not able to use this service.
The Executive Vice President and Head of the Business Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics Mobile Experience ( MX ), Woncheol Chai, stated: "The goal of Samsung Wallet is to make useful experiences simple and intuitive. Stablecoins have the potential to make global capital flows faster and easier, and we hope that Galaxy users can enjoy this without having to deal with the complexity of traditional crypto tools. Solana helps us to deliver this experience on a scale that only Samsung can achieve."

Solana Stablecoins Moving Towards the Mainstream
Samsung first revealed its stablecoin plan at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in London in July 2026. Vibhu Norby, the Chief Product Officer of Solana Foundation, provided more details about the background of this integration in an interview with SolanaFloor. He pointed out that Samsung has a significant distribution advantage, with the company shipping approximately 250 million devices each year, and that Samsung Wallet is pre-installed on these devices. Vibhu stated that the launch in the US market is just the first step, and there are hopes to expand stablecoin transfers to a wider range of global users in the future. He also mentioned that as stablecoin payments become more common, other smartphone manufacturers may eventually introduce similar features as well.
This launch has enabled Solana to obtain an important distribution channel through an existing consumer-grade application.
Solana Foundation President Lily Liu stated: "Over the past decade, stablecoins have proven the feasibility of this technology. What they lack is a way to enter the mainstream. Samsung has chosen to collaborate with Solana to bring the digital dollar into everyday life, leveraging one of the most trusted technology brands in the world. This level of adoption is exactly what we aim for with Solana. We are witnessing a moment where stablecoins are no longer just crypto products, but a means for people to transfer funds."
More friendly regulatory environment
At the time of Samsung's launch, the United States was establishing a clearer regulatory framework for stablecoins. Although the CLARITY Act initiative has stalled in the Senate, other financial regulatory agencies in the U.S. have shown a willingness to advance crypto regulation. In September, the Federal Reserve Board proposed new regulations requiring stablecoin issuers to back their tokens with specific reserve assets. The Federal Reserve Bank of America (OCC) has also just finalized the rules for implementing GENIUS Act. These requirements cover reserve support, redemption, risk management, and certain custody activities of U.S. payment-type stablecoin issuers. These rules will come into effect on January 18, 2027.
The stablecoin activities of Solana have reached a new high.
With the integration being implemented, the adoption of stablecoins for Solana is also on the rise. According to Artemis data, the supply of stablecoins for Solana reached a historic high of 17.4 billion US dollars on October 5th and is currently at 15.9 billion US dollars. As of 2026, this network has also processed over 5.25 trillion US dollars in stablecoin transactions.
The number of stablecoin holders on Solana has also reached a new milestone, exceeding 14 million, with nearly 5 million new holders added in 2026.
Samsung stated that in the future, it will explore more use cases for stablecoins, including online and offline payments, and expand to more markets as permitted by local regulations.
