Alphalita, Georgia, USA, October 22, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Materials Science Corporation Arclin announced today that it will invest millions of dollars to expand the production capacity of floc at its factory in Asturias, Spain. This marks an important step for the company in investing in the long-term growth of its Nomex ® business and enhancing supply to customers worldwide.
Since the acquisition of Nomex ® in April 2026, Arclin has been focused on investing in capacity, reliability, and long-term growth to meet the continuously rising customer demands. The company set a record for paper production in 2026, and it is expected that supplies will continue to grow in 2027.
Arclin CEO Bradley Bolduc stated: "When we acquired the Nomex ® business, we committed to investing in its future. Expanding production in Asturias will enhance our global manufacturing network and help ensure that we can continue to support our customers as demand grows in the aerospace, power infrastructure, defense, and transportation sectors."
The Asturian plant has been a cornerstone of the Nomex ® manufacturing network since 1993. With this investment, the plant will increase its production capacity of Nomex ® paper and become one of four production facilities within Arclin's global Nomex ® paper manufacturing network. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with full production scheduled to begin in early 2028.

For decades, Nomex ® has been the benchmark for performance standards in critical mission applications. Building on this tradition, we are advancing technology, developing new specifications, and working closely with our customers to meet evolving performance requirements and support new applications. This investment reflects our confidence in the future of these markets and the key role that Nomex ® paper will play in them."
